Labor Day Vacation

Well, here it is, the post-Labor Day downward slide into Fall.
I took a week off from work to catch up on some honey-do's around the cottage. Got alot accomplished, but, as always, not everything. All work and no play...... you know.
Had some pleasant evenings on the pontoon boat after all the Labor Day resorters went home. It's truly amazing how quiet and calm the lake can be without the din of jet skis and the wake of skiers. We waved goodbye to them all and wished them a prolonged absence.
At the end of the week I bid my wife adieu for a few nights and went to Camp Arcadia for the Lutheran Layman's League Retreat. This is truly a great experience. I look forward to it every year as a spiritual recharging, not to mention good fellowship with a bunch of great guys. (The Lutheran Lemonade makes the experience all the better.)
This year my Detroit Petanque Club buddy Jeff loaned me an extra set of boules to take to retreat and I got a couple of guys interested in the game of Petanque. The hardest part of the game for them to learn was how to say the name. Next year I may try to get a small tournament going.
I returned to the cottage on Sunday and had a pleasant 2 more days before we had to head back to the city and the day job.
We will return to the Lake later in the month to begin the pulling of the dock, pontoon, and other tasks necessary to close up for the winter season. Sad....so very sad.
On a lighter note though, this week the Ryder Cup starts and I'm hoping the US team can finally put aside ego's and play as a TEAM against the EU team. A win for us would certainly be refreshing.
Have a great fall. It's on it's way.
